Use Bang Lamung as the official Pattaya-area name

The Bang Lamung branch is in Nong Pla Lai north of central Pattaya. Search its full official name and confirm the route before travelling. In the English Smart Queue feed checked on 20 August 2026, the entry was listed but disabled; that is not a closure notice or proof that walk-ins are accepted.

Use Sriracha's service signal carefully

On 20 August 2026, Sriracha was selectable and exposed ‘Foreigner: NEW THAI DRIVING LICENCE’, while Chonburi main and Bang Lamung were disabled. This is useful booking evidence, but the label does not prove that your foreign-licence conversion or a date is available. Confirm before the longer journey.

Match the booking, address, and service label

A result labelled Pattaya by a private website may point to Bang Lamung, central Chonburi, or somewhere else. Use the map and exact office name on the official queue. Ask whether the appointment is a first Thai licence based on a foreign licence, not merely a generic new-licence slot.

The national document rule applies across the province. The practical local question is which address document the chosen Bang Lamung, Sriracha, or Chonburi counter accepts for your status.

  • Passport and current Thai stay

    Bring the original passport and requested identity, entry, and extension copies.

    The published operational checklist asks for at least 15 days remaining, and the foreign licence should remain valid for the full authorised Thai stay. Confirm near-expiry cases with the branch that will receive the application.

  • Certificate of Residence or confirmed alternative

    For Pattaya-area residents, Chonburi Immigration is at 75/265 Moo 12, Jomtien Beach Road Soi 5, Nongprue, Bang Lamung 20150, phone 038 252 751–4.

    Its published hours are Monday–Friday, 08:30–12:00 and 13:00–16:30. Confirm the current residence-letter service, fee, timing, and copy count; TM.30 is supporting input, not the finished DLT residence evidence.

  • Medical certificate and category-matching foreign licence

    The medical certificate must be within the published 30-day window.

    Bring the valid original foreign licence and copies. If it has no English, add the certified Thai or English evidence required by the regulation. A car entitlement does not support a Thai scooter licence.

  • One-hour DLT e-learning evidence

    Complete the official foreigner module and save a printable result.

    Ask the chosen Chonburi branch whether the appointment accepts that online evidence and how many paper sets are needed for separate car and motorcycle applications.

Branch availability and test exemption are two different decisions

Smart Queue provides one current booking signal; the national evidence rules control whether written and driving tests are generally waived. Neither decision should be inferred from the other.

    Confirm the branch before travelling

    Record the exact office name, address, appointment category, and vehicle type.

    A disabled entry does not establish closure. Sriracha's explicit foreigner new-licence item is the strongest current signal, but it still does not guarantee conversion eligibility or a date.

    Submit the complete file

    Staff review passport, residence, medical, training, licence validity, language, and vehicle category. Bring originals and the copy count requested by that branch. Document acceptance happens before any shorter conversion route can be applied.

    Complete reaction and vision screening

    Physical screening remains under the published rules and is separate from the computer theory or practical driving test. Language support is not guaranteed, so arrange help if you cannot confirm the station instructions.

    Clarify a full theory or practical assignment

    If the branch directs you to testing, ask what triggered it.

    The registrar may request further evidence, medical confirmation, or a driving retest after reviewing suitability, history, or the evidence. An accepted conversion normally produces a 2-year temporary Thai licence; the city name itself does not change the national rule.

The wrong branch can cost more than the licence fee

Government charges remain modest. Residence paperwork, clinic timing, copies, translation, and travel between Pattaya, Sriracha, and Chonburi create the meaningful cost variation.

  • Official DLT counter charge

    The current checklist lists 205 baht for a private car licence and 105 baht for a motorcycle licence, including the application fee. Two categories are separate licences and may require duplicate supporting originals.

  • Variable Chonburi expenses

    Budget separately for residence evidence, the medical certificate, certified translation, copies, photos if requested, and transport. Confirming the correct office first reduces the risk of paying for an unnecessary inter-city repeat visit.

  • Keep optional support outside the tariff

    Language or document help is not part of the DLT fee and cannot make an unsupported category convertible. Verify the official branch and evidence route before paying for any optional service.

Conversion FAQ

The questions to settle before you travel.

These answers follow the published national rules. The selected office still confirms your documents and vehicle category.

  • It normally produces a 2-year temporary Thai licence. After holding it for at least one year, an eligible holder can use the ordinary private-licence route; that later step is not automatic, and the regulation excludes some immigration statuses including tourism, sport, and transit admissions.
  • The nearby official Smart Queue entry is Chonburi Provincial Land Transport Office Bang Lamung Branch. Use that full name and the Nong Pla Lai address rather than relying on an informal Pattaya label.
  • It was listed but disabled when checked on 20 August 2026. That does not mean the physical branch is closed. Sriracha was selectable and exposed the foreigner new-licence item, but the appointment still needs conversion confirmation.
  • Prepare passport and copies, accepted Thai residence evidence, a medical certificate within 30 days, the valid original foreign licence and copy, certified translation if it has no English, and the one-hour DLT e-learning result.
  • Published DLT rules generally waive written and driving tests for an accepted valid same-type foreign licence, while physical screening remains. The chosen branch can assign the standard route when evidence is not accepted.
  • The published DLT counter fee is 205 baht for car or 105 baht for motorcycle. Residence evidence, medical, translation, copies, and travel to the selected Chonburi branch are separate.
